Remote Access guidelines with Hik-Connect App

My Hikvision NVR is connected to a standard broadband router, while my home uses a mesh Wi-Fi system. After linking the NVR to the Hik-Connect app, I can view the cameras on the local network but not remotely when I am away from home.

Are there specific router or NVR settings that should be adjusted to allow access through Hik-Connect out of home?
Please help if somebody has faced this issue.

If you can view cameras locally but not remotely via the Hik-Connect app, the issue is almost always network-related.
Quick Checks:
On the NVR go to:
Configuration - System Configuration - Network Configuration - Hik-Connect
  • Make sure Enabled = On
  • Status must show Online
If it says Offline, remote access will not work.

Set DNS manually on the NVR:
Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4
Save and reboot.

No port forwarding is required for Hik-Connect.
