Will Defaulting My Device Unbind It from Hik-Connect?

Hello everyone,

If I no longer have access to the Hik-Connect account that my device is bound to, can I simply factory default the recorder to remove it from the account? Or do I still need to go through the unbind process? Thanks in advance.

Hello ImogenGrant,

No — performing a factory default will not unbind the device from the Hik-Connect account.

Once a recorder (NVR/DVR) has been bound to a Hik-Connect account, that binding is stored on Hikvision’s platform servers, not just locally on the device. Resetting or defaulting the unit only restores local configuration settings and does not remove the cloud account association.

Important:

  • A factory reset does not remove Hik-Connect binding.
  • The device must be manually unbound or deleted from the original Hik-Connect account.
  • Only after proper unbinding can the device be added to a new main account.
If you no longer have access to the original account, you will need to follow the official unbind procedure or contact authorized Hikvision support for assistance.
